Union Institute & University will bring non-untraditional education at a bachelor's, master's, & doctorial level. Begun as a consortium of universities in 1964 called The Union for Locate & Experimentation inside Higher Education, it down the road became an independent degree-granting institution calling itself A University Forgoing Bulwarks (1971), and then A Union Institute (1989). When getting Vermont College inside 2001, it was renamed Union Institute and University. Using headquarters around Cincinnati, Ohio, Union Institute and University is accredited per North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Describes Graduate College, College of Undergraduate Studies and Center for Distance Learning which are located in Cincinnati. Also has undergraduate offices also located in Los Angeles, Sacramento, and Miami, Florida.
